Track Club
Hurdles First Track Club
Hurdles First Track Club is a youth track club based in Raleigh, NC that participates in meets sanctioned by United States Track & Field (USATF). Our athletes and our coaches specialize in the hurdling events, and our athletes range in age from 11 to 18 years old. The coaches, Steve McGill and Aaron McDougal, have worked on a volunteer basis with the bigger track clubs in the Raleigh area, such as the Junior Striders and the Carolina Eagles. The hurdlers that we have coached over the years have done very well at all age levels, but, because of the large size of these clubs, we have come to feel that it has grown difficult to give the type of event-specific training that is required for a technical event like the hurdles. Therefore, beginning in the 2006 season, we are launching the Hurdles First Track Club. With the new club, we will be able to create an environment in which the kids we coach can receive more one-on-one instruction.
The Hurdles First Track club puts an emphasis on education, both on the track and off. We want our athletes to be students of their events, to maintain a high GPA in their classes, and to embark on a path that will lead them to a college education and a productive career.
