About the Site's Author:
Besides coaching and teaching, I am also a free-lance writer. I have written articles for websites such as trackshark.com and ncpreptrack.net, and I regularly contribute track articles to blackathlete.net. Also, I'm currently working on a biography of Rodney Milburn, 1972 Olympic high hurdle champion. I am currently working on the last of twelve chapters, so I'm also done the first draft. After that, I will need to go back and do some more research and interviews to fill in some gaps, and then begin editing and revising and looking for a publisher. I'm feeling good about what I've gotten done so far; I'm feeling like it's going to be a really good book. My personal athletic career was quite humble. My personal best in the 110’s in high school was a hand-timed 14.7, and my best time in college was a 15.63. In the long hurdles, my pr’s were 40.4 in the 300’s in high school, and 57.5 in the 400’s in college. I started hurdling as a sophomore in high school, when my coach, noticing my height (5’11”) and work ethic, suggested that I give them a try. I enjoyed hurdling immensely from the very beginning, and truly fell in love with the sport a year later, when my coach showed me a tape of Renaldo Nehemiah’s world record 12.93 victory over Greg Foster in Zurich. My love and passion for the hurdles has guided and given purpose to my life ever since. |
